Welcome to Topsy Turvy Theatre!
Nov 24th
Topsy Turvy makes theatre for children in your local schools, nurseries, libraries, community centres, church halls, living rooms, gardens, rooftops, imaginations…
Who are we?
Topsy Turvy is Claire Hills and Rachel Priest. We have been working in theatre for 14 years near enough; we like to think we know our stuff. We set up our lovely company because we feel that children’s theatre needs to be about quality not quantity. We don’t want to charge around the country doing as many shows as humanly possible without stopping, dashing from one school to the next. We want to find out what you want from us, and take the time to deliver something that your children will love, remember and learn from.
How do we do that?
Topsy Turvy Theatre inspires children by turning the curriculum upside down – making work into play and the familiar into a world that is waiting to be discovered. We use the national curriculum and SEAL initiative to give our productions strong learning objectives without forgetting that our product is aimed at children. We use play and imagination to promote creativity in the children we work with. A visit from Topsy Turvy doesn’t end when we leave the school; teachers can use our bespoke resource pack to continue the learning that we have inspired.
What else do we do?
We can make a workshop just for you – give us a call or send us an email and we’ll find out what you’re after!
“One boy told us his tummy had an ache from laughing, but a good one.”
Miss N Ash, Bury Grammar School for Girls, Bury.
“The performance was watched by children from EYFS and KS1. It was enjoyed immensely by all. The children were spellbound and continued to enthuse after the event. The whole experience was fantastic – well organised, creative and enthralling.”
Debbie Foden, Bury Grammar School for Girls, Bury.
