Catherine Traveller – Assistant director

Hello, I’m Catherine. I’m a freelance performer with Topsy Turvy Theatre.

When I was about 8 years old I saw two children I knew in a local production of A Christmas Carol and was blown away by the idea that acting was something I could actually do and not just watch. I joined a drama club at my local music school. We moved to Yorkshire when I was ten and the first thing my parents did was enroll me in the youth theatre that took place every week at our local theatre.

I went on to do a BA in Performing Arts at Cumbria Institute of the Arts in Carlisle where we learnt to produce our own plays and take on other roles such as marketing, costume and stage management.

I moved back to Yorkshire after graduating and started working for a variety of small scale, children’s and educational theatre companies, touring the country to schools and theatre venues. I remained involved in my youth theatre as I became an adult and trained to become a workshop leader, drama facilitator and chaperone.

Nowadays I enjoy working with a number of companies in mix of roles. As well as making my own projects and performing with Topsy Turvy Theatre, I enjoy bringing together projects for other people and chaperoning young performers. Above all, I love to work in a team with quality storytelling at their focus and who want to have a positive impact on the world.

I live in Huddersfield in West Yorkshire. With my friends and my two cats Loopy and Sprocket.
